787 dumping fuel over Wiltshire??

Post by Flankerman »

Just spotted what looks like a BA Boeing 787 dumping fuel over my house near Malmesbury.

He was low, on a curve from SW and eventually heading back in that direction towards Bristol.

Too low for contrails - and the two streams were inboard of the wingtips - maybe mid-span.

Maybe out of Lulsgate - now heading back there ???

Anyone ???

I know why they dump fuel - to get the landing weight down.

Just out of curiosity though - does any of that dumped fuel reach the ground ???

I assume it spreads and disperses - but it can't atomise completely can it ??

It was quite low - and I'd hate to be directly underneath when it was dumping fuel - imagine the stains on your car - or the washing ??

There was quite a lot of it - the 787 described a large circle, very low, dumping all the time I watched it.

Best place for it, if you ask me... As for degraded navigation, it's well known that Wiltshire is prone to all sorts of weird phenomena. It's probably a bunch of Druids up to mischief again...
