FR24 showing 3 of the Welsh air-ambulances at same incident in North Wales, all went to Stoke Hospital, each having to clear the helipad to allow the next to land. All returning back to bases now.

Something foreign inbound Brize.
May be wrong, but think it's a French C-130, 'COTAM 1215'

Missed where they're en-route to, though ( heard them asking for latest weather, but didn't catch where for )

Re: The FR24/PlanePlotter Thread
Something big and very low just passed over Quedgeley Gloucestershire heading west at 20.45 this evening, not sure what it was, Globemaster possibly??. Any ideas?.
Re: The FR24/PlanePlotter Thread
Two CV-22s departed Brize around that time, heading west.
Re: The FR24/PlanePlotter Thread
Ahh, that explains the strange engine note. Many thanks.
Re: The FR24/PlanePlotter Thread
A blacked out Chinook with what im sure was a V-22 following just passed very low over Quedgeley, Gloucester heading NW.

Imagine it was an RAF Chinook conducting low level training.

Blacked out meaning no navigation lights on, another aircraft with lights on following close behind, didnt sound like a Chinook more like a V-22 hard to decipher as the Chinook was so loud.
Re: The FR24/PlanePlotter Thread
Two RAF Chinooks were in the area, ZH775 & ZH891.
Re: The FR24/PlanePlotter Thread
Thankyou, my ears must have been playing tricks on me. They woke up the neighbourhood, lovely sound.

Re: The FR24/PlanePlotter Thread
Bums! Again.
Been listening to something using callsign 'Alpha Alpha', pilot with foreign accent, working Cardiff for the past 20 minutes or so, inbound St Athan.
Assumed it was just another airliner for refurb/scrapping.
Nope - it's G-ONAA, the Bronco Demo Team's OV-10.
Edited to add....
And about 15 minutes after that, Strikemaster G-SOAF arrived too.
Guess HAS are going to be busy again.

Re: The FR24/PlanePlotter Thread
Find it amazing the number of incorrect routings showing on FR24 and other aircraft tracking sites now the schedules have changed.
Surely they are known well in advance to be loaded.
Seems to be BAW,EZY,JER and RYR are the worse affected

Re: The FR24/PlanePlotter Thread
They are known to the airlines.
ATC know probably 24 hours in advance as flightplans are filed.
FR24 find out as the aircraft lands at its destination.

Re: The FR24/PlanePlotter Thread
I understand I think
Why do FR24 only know when it arrives at the destination.
They show a routing. Some are right and alot are wrong.
Am I just being thick

Re: The FR24/PlanePlotter Thread
jules48,
My understanding is that the aircraft transmits its ATC call-sign/flight number as one part of the ADSB-out data string. The FR24 or ADSB-Exchange (or whatever) software then looks this up in its internal database in order to display the route. Note that some flights have dual flight-numbers: for example this morning's British Airways flight from Boston to Heathrow is BA214 as far as the passengers are concerned, and BAW80G to Air Traffic Control. It is the ATC version that ADSB uses.
However if the airline has changed its ATC flight number as part of its new winter or summer schedule, the new flight number will not be in the data-base and no route will be shown, unless it is a re-use of an existing flight number in which case the wrong route will be shown. However by observing where the aircraft takes off from and lands (ADSB-out height information = 0ft) the database can be updated (manually or possibly even automatically) with the new information.
In my experience, Lufthansa is one of the worst offenders for ATC flight-number changes every six months!

I'm listening to a couple of flights en-route to North Wales MTA, callsigns WARMAN & ANIMAL ( not heard those callsigns for a while )
QUIDs have just come up on the same frequency ( 278.6 ) pretty faint from my location, and aren't working either of those.
