Fairford NOTAM

Re: Fairford NOTAM

Postby cg_341 on Thu 01 Jun 2017, 11:47 am

The posts don't have to be approved.

I posted the link to Skyvector on FC, I didn't post it here because, quite frankly, I don't have time to post it to a million different forums of which I'm a member. If people want the info, they can find it.

And yet you have time to post that & sit there logged on afterwards, presumably waiting to see if I reply.

How many of the great membership on FC worked a 12-hour night shift last night ( and over an hour's drive home because of the chavball in Cardiff this week ) though.
Unfortunately, got to sleep some time.....I think they should change it so that all such deployments occur from Monday afternoon until Thursday afternoon

B) FROM: 17/06/02 08:22
C) TO: 17/08/28 17:00
E) WORK IN PROGRESS - MEN AND EQUIPMENT IN APCH TO RWY 27 BOTH SIDES OF EXTENDED RCL. NO CLOSER THAN 455M FROM RWY 27 THRESHOLD

28 August end date would mean it's not for RIAT build/dismantling, I'd have thought.

A rough measure on google maps would seem to suggest this is about the distance to the fence. Erecting screening to prevent viewing through same would be my suggestion.

I believe the work is actually off-airfield and is the other side of the main road. There appears to be a fair amount of construction equipment by the approach lights from what I can see in some recent videos

Had to make a rare visit to company HQ near Oxford this morning, normally interesting as its right on Brize approach. Saw the unmistakable smoke trail of a B-52 head on at about 2000ft as it went downwind and then turned right about a mile away from me towards Fairford . I wish every morning commute saw a B-52!

Almost certain a B 52 just flew low over Quedgeley Glos heading east, still above the very low cloudbase though.

One of the US AR tracks booked for the early hours tomorrow, suggesting the B-1B will be gracing the UK tomorrow afternoon if it flies somewhere first
