...but something which looked and sounded different to the usual airliners we see round here. A markedly different sound (more of a growl) and the wings looked to be more swept back.

Also on an unusual heading for the area - heading directly West overhead Yate (just north of Bristol).

There aren't any B-52s at Fairford at the moment are there?

I'm probably being a dunce, but 99% sure it wasn't an a-380, 747 or a-340.

Any ideas?

BA 747 G-CIVS went straight over Yate at 12.40 heading WNW.

Now there's a thought. A bomber conversion for the 747. :heyhey:
