Re: Lynx Farewell Tour
For those wishing to view the flypast from The Helicopter Museum at Weston-super-Mare, we will be open on Friday 17th March from 0900.
I would recommend arriving by 1000. See you there!

Re: Lynx Farewell Tour
My workplace (Ubley) is pretty much directly between the route they will take from Glastonbury to Filton so fingers crossed will get to see them going over.
Re: Lynx Farewell Tour
Is there a viewing area at RAF Odiham or an area that gives a good vantage point for photography? I guess they are landing there for refueling perhaps?
Re: Lynx Farewell Tour
Definite refuel at Odiham during proposed 19 minute stop +/- adjustment to suit timings on the next-leg. Odiham has several viewable spots but no 'one-size fits all' for photography. You could do worse than arrive around 1 hour before the programmed ETA & observe the inbound & outbound Radial/ 'Gates' in use that day. Unless of course somebody 'local' would like to educate us all??
Re: Lynx Farewell Tour
Thank you for your response. If anyone could add to this it'd be very welcome. I'm considering a day off to drop by Odiham. Thank you

Re: Lynx Farewell Tour
Anyone have a flight plan with routes / turning points, like the one released for the Sea King HC.4 farewell ? Perhaps a NOTAM ?
I was aiming to get into London Docklands for c 2pm, but picking the spot is the trick.
Thanks.
updated:
So couldn't see any NOTAMs on NATS site, didn't hear anything on the usual frequencies for central London and was just about to give up and go home, when they arrived c 30 mins late near Tower Bridge. Few rubbish pics here:

Re: Lynx Farewell Tour
Does anyone know which airframes/callsigns are being used for today's farewell tour?

Merlin possibly ZH851 as its in the Weston area at 600ft right now (KingFlight500) as on ADS-B
Mind you Merlin ZJ118 is a few miles away too
and so is Lynx ZZ535 (Talon)
And Apache ZJ179
and Merlin ZZ101
Is there something going on over or around Weston S. M. today?

Thanks Dave, I'll see if I can fight my way through the carnage on adsbExchange!

"KingFlight500" is actually "Kingfisher 500", an 829 NAS callsign.
Weston-super-Mare is just one of the common areas that helicopters operate on a daily basis. Usually at low level, such that they don't appear on tracking sites. However, you can work plenty out from the transponder codes of each aircraft.
ZH851 squawking 0404, so working Exeter Approach.
ZJ118 squawking 4357, so maintaining a listening watch with Yeovilton Radar
ZZ535 squawking 7002, so operating low level somewhere
ZJ179 squawking 2676, which is a Middle Wallop squawk - I think their PAR squawk?
ZZ101 squawking 4362, a Westlands Yeovil squawk
I'd suggest that none of the above are taking part in the flypast.

Your 'gen' main't be so 'duff',as it's highly likely the pinger Merlin is acting as camera for the tour.
