The lancaster landed at Coningsby at around 5pm. So I'm guessing it would still be there.

Clearly says 'Lancaster' in the thread title, I'm sure we can answer a simple query without throwing a paddy because the OP has chosen an older name... :loser:

It's not the age of the name, it's the nauseating, cutesy-fluffy names for it that have taken hold in recent years, particularly across social media.

That's very true Bluebird Mike. We all know it should be "Leads" now not "Thumps".

Or why not just PA474 "City of Lincoln"? As that is how the Lanc is known to me :)

Indeed, leave that sort of thing to the spluffers, carrotteers and just downright abysmal photographers...

People have been calling the B-17 'Sally B' years before social media.

That is the aeroplane's name and how it is marketed by Elly and the team. It has been "Sally B" for at least 30 years.

PA474 wears a variety of historical schemes and is never referred to by her operators as anything other than "PA474", "The Lancaster" or, I believe, "The Bomber".
