5th Gen Fighter deployment end of the Summer

Post by boff180 »

No idea which base or type (35 or 22) but it appears the USAF are deploying 5th gen assets to Europe at the end of the summer.

Anyone got an idea of roughly when as "late summer" is pretty ambiguous.

Not sure if I should abandon my plans to see the F-16s and hold out for these instead - no great fan of either type, but at least they're something new/different.

My guess would be F-35 "A" version. The 'a' cannot be seen due to the stealth capability.

Go and see the F-16s, its going to be a very boring hobby when the only fast jets in the west will be F-22s and F-35s. Plus they will be around for decades to come, make the most of the other types which are still flying now!

Is it just me who doesn’t understand why everyone thinks F-22s and F-35s are boring? The thrust vectoring (and all around beauty) of the F-22 and the most powerful engine ever put into operational service on a fighter powering the F-35? Doesn’t seem that boring to me. :dunno:

Didn’t think my opinion was that funny to be honest. What makes you think they’re boring? They may not be as charismatic as F-15s and Tornados but In my opinion, saying they’re boring is a bit ridiculous

I'm struggling to see where in my post that I have said the aircraft types are boring. I've said it will a boring hobby when they are the only types operated by Western Air Arms.

And I could always join the others on there bitching about the fact that the Milscanners newsgroup actually expects people to contribute by making posts in exchange for access to their databases.

Oh, and possibly them up on 278.6 at the moment, discussing AAR & requesting different routing due to possibly being tight on fuel.
Edited to add.....
Or possibly not, still trying to catch callsign ( which hasn't been given yet )

Edited again.....
Unlikely to be them -- MYTEE callsign.

Nope....saw mention of their dummy-spitting on the Milscanners newsgroup, so popped on there to see what it was about.
