T&T GB 1/72 Italeri Wessex HC2

Post by ArabJazzie »

Hi all,
Well i must admit im not too upset with my GB failure so am hitting this one as well. I am taking the body of the UH-34, adding the nose of the HU5, et voila, Wessex HC2. I already have the Rescue version on hold, paint problems again!!
Image
I just need to make sure i get the right markings for this one!

I'm not sure about the UH-34, but I know that the tail rotor on the HU.5 kit has the blades set so that they would rotate in the wrong direction. Not too difficult a fix, but may be worth checking references so that the direction of the blades on the UH-34 (whose tail rotor I assume you're using) is set correctly :)

Hello all,
Although i am not near the box at the minute, im sure the tail rotor suffers the same problem! I didnt fix the rescue machine but will be sorting this one.

Hi again chaps,
Not managed a start on this but here are some sprue shots and some direction with how these kits become an HC2.

First of all, the main reason a HU5 cant make a HC2 is the side windows are too big. To rectify this, Italeri kindly produced the UH-34 which has the correct size windows.
Image

So using the UH-34 as the base, add the nose from the HU5 along with the bulged cockpit side windows and et voila, Wessex HC2

I do understand there may be some other small details that should be seen to, but its gonna look good enough on the shelf for me to be happy! Next time i should have interior built!

Hi again,
Have to say that i didnt manage any work on this until this week when i managed to get the Spit painted. But the Wessex is that good that it has just fell together!!! No interior shots as i dont put work into things that i cant see. And i even reworked the tail rotor to get it turning the correct way!

Image

Next up it to tidy the joints and throw some paint at her! Would i be right in saying Ocean Grey, HU 106 and Dark Green, HU 164 are the colours i need?

Good work so far

RAF Dark Green is actually Hu 163. For the grey, you'll probably want to go with Dark Sea Grey (ocean grey was replaced by this after WW2) which is Hu 164 :)

I've been looking forward to seeing how this one goes together, and it looks great so far! :) Shaun sounds about right on the colours and believe me he knows what he's talking about!!!

Here! Im a Scotsman, and theres also Ebay!!! :yahoo:

As said before, ive already built the Rescue HC2(on hold because of paint issues) and i need another HC2 to make a Green one and another HU5. But im sure all 4 will cost me less than £30. All the spares will make up UH-34s but with big windows!

Do you think Ebay works these days? Whenever I go on I never see a bargain.

Any update on this?

Certainly an ambitious build, not sure I would be comfortable sawing the nose off a kit!

Ben,
Thats the good thing about this one, theres no cutting to do, just add the nose parts of the HU5 to the UH-34. Apart from that, the first coat of paint is on but might not have any picture updates till next week, lots of OT at work and holiday spending to save for!!!

Hi all,
A wee no picture update for you! Some decorating and a few aviation events have elbowed their way into my schedule but i should have a new camera at the end of it!

Thanks to Airliners, ive found pictures for my chosen scheme, all thats required is the black bits painted. I now require some markings i think i have somewhere then its throw all the bits together. Pictures by the weekend!!!

Looks superb! Just a pity that Italieri haven't seen fix to rebox the sprues to allow you to build the HC.2 without the messing!

Oh dear!
Just cant believe it! Big big school boy error with this one! I knew i had the decals for this one and the green scheme that replaced this. I also knew i had a part set with codes n serials and one without. Guess what, yes i chose the one with no codes n serials without checking at the start. However i am happy enough with the results as they stand, although it sits a bit high!

A couple more pics in the completed section!

Very neat

I've got a Wessex in my stash and if it turns out half as good as that I'll be happy.
