The build is on hold again due to the Icarus Productions Stencilling decals. The stencils say they are Grey but what they don't tell you is they are really Dark Grey more like Anthracite. Will order up the White stencilling instead on Monday, but probably won't see them until next weekend.

Still waiting for the decals to arrive from Hannants :sleepy: but in the meantime I carried on with decalling the undersides. With no concrete references to go by I decided to go the full hog and fully stencil it up, every Phantom is different in the amount of stencilling applied to them with some having next to none.

Over 200 decals on the underside alone

and what the top sides looks like at the moment, just the White stencilling to be added to the Green areas when they arrive

I think there will about 400 decals on this bird when done

Wow, I think you put more decals on this one build than all the ones I have made since taking up the hobby again in Jan 2008!!

I haven't forgot about the fast approaching end of this Group Build but I'm glad to say that I'm now on the homeward leg of this build :yahoo: .

One thing after another has added up to this taking far longer than normal and at times I have just had no interest in the damn thing. Got the flat coat on today and once dry the final assembly and final touches will conclude a rather long and tiresome build.

Will get pics up of the finished article when done.

I hope everyone had a good Christmas

Scott

Low level and nipping along at 600kts this one is sneaking in under the cover of darkness

:yahoo: :yahoo: Glad to say that this one is now finished :yahoo: :yahoo: and the I beat the deadline as a bonus. First one up and last one in(or is it).

Will get pics up tomorrow, I'm off to enjoy a well deserved beer or two or even a few.

Finally finished the "Recce Toom" last night 3 months after starting :sleepy:

Just to recap

1/48 Hasegawa RF-4E Phantom, together with Aires RF-4B resin detail set for the camera bays, wheel bays and cockpit, Aires exhausts, DMold Intakes(pirated copies  not to my knowledge at time of buying).

Decals were from Icarus productions Hellenic Fighters Part 1 and F/RF-4E Phantom stencil data both in Grey and White.(Nearly 400 decals on this one).

Paints were all Xtracolour thinned with Revell Colormix and sprayed free hand. Panelwashed with Promodelers Dark wash, followed by a Flat coat of Xtracolour varnish then a misting with Tamiya Smoke (heavy in parts).

Finished in the marks of 348 Mira Hellenic AF, based at Larissa AB

There is a word for this I'm sure, I'm just not sure what it is. "Incredible" is as near as I can get. Gorgeous!
