RIAT GB - AH-64D Apache Longbow

Post by Deacon »

My nephew comes around to make model kits with me and he had the Italeri AH-64 Apache. As he knew
I had the AH-64D he asked if we could build them together. I was surfing the net for cockpit photographs and
found a photo of an Apache AH-64D at RIAT in 2005, so I thought "Why not add it to the GB?". Are you still awake?

Here is a photo posted on Wiki by Bob the Pirate. Thanks to Bob for allowing its use elsewhere.

So here is the box shot of the kit I am doing...

Now my nephew makes kits and paints them as he wants to (a black Hind with almost zebra white markings was his latest creation) so this shot shows his interpretation of the cockpit dash, which is very colourful (sorry about the focus).

My painting will be more restrained and I will be referring to F_M's build for the Afghanistan GB.

Does anyone know where I can get 1:72 decals that read "Drill Inert"? That's what is written on the blue Stinger/Starstreaks?

Thanks for looking.

I like his job on the instrument panel, not so surrel! Doubt it would work with NVG's though! Will follow this one with interest as im looking for a decent Apache kit, and the one's so far (Airfix, Revell and Hobbyboss) im not very impressed with.

With dumb bombs and retarded bomblets, why don't they just use stupid missiles?

Amazing that you can have so many kits on the go... Last time I tried that. I ended up with a box full of leftover parts and a few paint test airframes  I'm looking forward to seeing this one.

I didn't mate as there were some significant fit issues regarding the canopy joining onto the fuselage.

I have since bought the Hobby Boss kit and I intend to make this up as a Brit kite.
