Foreign Service GB - Polish AF F-16D

Post by ArabJazzie »

Hi all,
Tomorrow i hope to bring you pictures of the start of my entry with a Kinetics 1/72 F-16D Blk52+ built OOB. Have seen lots written on the net regarding Kinetic F-16s and when they dropped them down to 1/72, it was inevitable i was going to take the plunge and build one for myself.

More tomorrow!
Arabest,
Geoff.

Prime,
Funny you should ask!

Cant say im very impressed so far! It does have some very nice detail but is let down in other places! Sink marks are everywhere including 3 under each wing. It has gone together quite well but the join under the RH LERX leaves a strange gap. I have heard that the wings on some of these have none of the distinctive washout at the wingtips. This one does have the washout but there is a bit of warpage that makes the wings point up a bit. As it was a one piece assembly it couldnt be modelled out of the build so any tips welcome.

Shame to hear the kit has a few flaws. The amount of ordnance you get is a plus though!

Looks good so far Geoff

Hi all,
Well its been a while since i stalled this one due to a problem with the wings pointing up instead of level. I finally summoned the desire to try and sort the problem with some boiling water and manipulation to get to this stage.

Not 100% happy but has put me back on track but with 3 weeks, xmas in the middle and at least 5 other projects on the go, its gonna be tight.

I will be keeping a close eye on this, I am thinking of ( time permitting ) doing Kinetic's F-16F, which I believe is the same mould.
Looking good so far, keep it up!

Hi again,
As you see ive been a wee bit busy this week! Now this plus 2 projects.

Some filler where required, especially ejector pin marks on the wing undersides, then a blast of the usual Halfords primer then some Humbrol acrylic 127 and we reach this.

Its funny how this was nearly on a one way flight to the bin but now i have it this far, im starting to become really happy with it. Tomorrow might see some masking then Hu126 and it will be starting all the fiddly bits. However work on Boxing day, OT on Tuesday might see a delay till the new year!

Hi all,
Well it looks like another one to conceded defeat as i intended to have a marathon session today to see if i could finish this but i didnt drag my butt out of bed till 12.45 which destroyed my chances. Its a shame really as it looks like this is the first year i can say ive finished all i have started, barring 2 for a GB that ends next month. But then again i have 5 hours to see if i can get the aircraft on its wheels and some decals on.

Fingers crossed for a photo update tonight.

Hi all,
Just gonna keep this one going here and have got it to the stage where i started some decals last night before i ran out of time!

As seen in the picture, the AAM load of 2x AIM-120s and 2x AIM-9X are ready to paint but im not sure what i want to hang from the mid wing hardpoints. Any suggestions are welcome!

Looks good so far, well done for persevering with it
I would suggest a pair of JDAM or GBU-24 Paveway II's for the pylons, one on each pylon of course. Are you putting a LANTIRN/ SNIPER pod on each side of the chin and also a centreline tank as well?

Nice to see some paint on her Geoff.

Will look mean with a heavy load slung underneath

You going to dirty her up a bit?

Nothing done on this and very little on the other stuff. Due to part of our 1000m response area being a bay on a tidal estuary, had to do a boat course that meant i ended up doing 15 days on the bounce! :hypno: Still have mud rescue and Argocat training to go!

However im off for the next 6 days so might get this one done!
