Upcoming GB "Arab Air Power" July 2012
Due to a me making a mistake on the dates for the GB's this post has been scrubbed until closer the time
Arab Air Power is not scheduled to start until July 2012, sorry guys.
Is there anyway the section can get cleaned up as it's starting to get very difficult to navigate and keep track of subjects.

Re: Upcoming GB "Arab Air Power" Jan 2012
Tis a bit quick off the mark considering the current GBs are just starting!
And does Israel not count?
Dont have anything in the stash for this one and Santa has other ideas for me! I will be watching with though!
Arabest,
Geoff.

Count me in Scott.
Very hard to pick a subject since there are so many appealing ones! I'm thinking su24, su25, Mirage F1 or L39 at the moment. Only a few more months to make up my mind...

You're correct I took the dates from an earlier post by Alan and didin't realise that they were changed a few post down.
Ah well scrub it then.

Oh hell!
And I was going to sit in the middle of my stash and look through all those that might fit OOB for this GB.

Re: Upcoming GB "Arab Air Power" Jan 2012
Count me in; Trumpeter 32nd scale Mig 21MF in a scheme that I have not decided yet.
Just for clarification (and I know that we have a while yet) but Scott, for the purposes of everyone, can you define what "Arab Air Power" is,which countries it applies to...
It is a real interesting GB this, willl test your skills as a modeller (unless you decide to do a Saudi Hawk or F3) as some of the schemes out there require some thought on how to build effectively... It also gives you a great opportunity to do something different from what you usually do and stretch that "comfort zone" a bit further. I for one, cannot wait tosee what you all decide to build...
GAME ON!!!

No problem. I've just ordered a Hobby Boss Mi24V, to be finished in Iraqi markings. It'll just have to sit in the stash for a bit. Looking forward to it!

I just scrubbed the initial post as it was pointless having it up 10 months in advance Not a having a good day today
Arab Air Power will include any aircraft flown by any Country as defined by the Arab League of Nations since it's conception in 1945 and their membership status at the date of your proposed build(year of joining the League are in brackets) those with no date are original members.
Algeria (1962)
Bahrain (1971)
Comoros (1993)
Djibouti (1977)
Egypt (not a member between 1979-89, see below)
Iraq.
Jordan
Kuwait (1961)
Lebanon
Libya (1953)
Mauritania (1973)
Morocco (1958)
Oman (1971)
Palestine
Qatar (1971)
Saudi Arabia
Somalia(1974)
Sudan(1956)
Syria
Tunisia(1958)
United Arab Emirates(1971)
Yemen(1967)
The Palestine Liberation Organization was admitted in 1976. Egypt's membership was suspended in 1979 after it signed a peace treaty with Israel. In 1987 Arab leaders decided to renew diplomatic ties with Egypt and Egypt was readmitted to the league in 1989.
Basically if your build flew with the Tunisian AF before 1958 it wouldn't be allowed, but if it flew from 1958 onwards it is.
For the purpose of ease I'm classing North and South Yemen as Yemen only.
I will post up the full criteria closer to the time but giving you plenty of notice .

I may be building a 1:72 Hind for this one too. I am also investigating the various Mirage models to see what decals they have in the box.

The latest Italeri 1/48 M2K B/D/N release comes with Qatari markings. The bonus is it's a straight reboxing of the Kinetic kit with the Skunkworks French weapon set thrown in as well, although it is going to cost between £32-36.

Nice. This sounds an interesting kit which I might just have to get. I have also found a decal sheet which has got enough on it for 30 aircraft, all Iraqi though. Now that is a strong contender too.

Yes, that's the one. As you say, so many different types it seems well worth the money.

I already had this one in the stash and was considering it for the Arab Air GB.

Re: Upcoming GB "Arab Air Power" Jan 2012
Might join this one with a Qatari Mirage 2000-5 or a UAE F-16F. So shotgun them!
EDIT: If I decide to join in with this group build I will do a UAE F-16F, using the Kinetic F-16F

Re: Upcoming GB "Arab Air Power" Jan 2012
I have thought about doing a duel 1/32 build - Hawker Hunter and Mig 21 MF - how long have we got?
Re: Upcoming GB "Arab Air Power" Jan 2012
Looking forward to this one... I got a nice trumpeter 1/48 SU-24M that I got for my birthday. I was thinking that I'll build it up in Algerian markings.

It will be the usual 3 months mate. Not sure that is enough time to do two 1/32 builds, especially to your standard!
