Foreign Service GB - Build #3 P51-B Mustang ++FINISHED++

Post by Deacon »

Here is my third build for this GB, but it was supposed to be the first! I lost it so continued with others.

Having looked high and low, I went and bought another,but was surprised to find that there were Brit decals in the kit
and that they were for 112 Squadron which is the same squadron the Warhawk was finished in.

Here is the box shot....

Thanks for looking.

Managed to get some paint on her over the weekend.

As you can see I need to go over the dark green and get rid of the green where it has run through the grey.

The join between fuselage and wings was excellent, no filler required.

Paint job tidied up...

I need to glue the canopy on, it may get rid of the gap around it.

Cheers

This particular aircraft may have been the mount Flt. Lt. Raymond Vincent Hearn. He was the leader of B Flight and used the individual letter "Q" on his aircraft. He downed a Ju 88 in this machine on 9 September 1944, even though only one of his four guns was working. He was killed on what would have been his last sortie on 18 February 1945, in KH820 GA Q a later Mustang Mk IV with the Malcom hood, his plane exploding after being hit by flak. The letter "Q" was not used again as a mark of respect. (Information obtained from RAF 112 Squadron website)

Nice job Deacon! Especially on the panel line wash.

For referance, KH820 is a Mustang III, im pretty sure a malcolm hood on the IV would look a touch odd!
