Looks good, but if I may add some CC, your panel lines look a bit too defined. What wash do you use mate?

Excellent and very colourful, sure to stand out from the others. Looking at the pictures I would hazard a guess that the panel lines on the kit are oversized and this combined with the wash has resulted in what you see, getting panel lines to look right on on a 1/72 kit takes a lot skill and I would probably not bother with them and concentrate on pre and post shading to break up the solid colours, certainly not a ball breaker by any means.

The only point I can add is that you've taken the Light Grey for the Radome too far back towards the cockpit, again maybe it's down to Revells poor painting reference(they are known for it) and no fault of your own, altogether a great build.

OK, I don't know what is going on here. I posted a reply but it hasn't saved!?

Thanks gentlemen for the encouragement and CC.

I think you are right about the panel lines, they are too much. I did the wash (Mig Neutral) slightly differently by applying it only to the lines and not all over.

I think this made the lines too pronounced as I did an all over wash on the Sea King and "Gina" and that worked fine. With the satin varnish going on, it defined them even more, but I wanted to get away from the "Dinky Toy" look.

A shame really as the scheme looked great prior to this. Still, a nice addition to the shelf.

I will have to look at the pre and post shading techniques.

Oh and Scott, you are right, the grey does go back too far. Revell have shown it correctly, I just took the wrong line as the reference point to finish it.
Also, looking at photos now I can see that there shouldn't be any panel lines on the radome anyway! :wall:

Finally, I wanted t put bulged drop tanks on the build, but these don't come supplied with the kit!

I realised that the main problem with the finished build was around the front of the a/c where there aren't any decals.

So, I decided to tidy it up a little by filling in the panel lines, reducing the length of darker grey on the radome and of course adding pastel blue
and sky grey where required.

I think its a much better look, although the satin varnish needs to be added.............

Much better mate!

I use Mig wash now, much better IMHO than the Flory Models one.

Will you be entering the Phantom from the set in the GB?

It was a tough choice, but yes mate, the Phantom has been posted as my next build to run alongside the Hind.
