Re: Airfix GB - 1/48 Seafire F.XVII
Cheers guys and here's a long overdue update.
I'm putting the finishing touches to her at last.
I had hoped that my experiments with oil paint weathering would go well enough to use on this build but it wasn't to be.
So I have just gone with a panel line wash (which actually looks pretty horrid on the underside) and some sprayed exhaust stains.
Need decals and flat coat on the prop. For some reason I didn't do it at the same time as everything else. And the canopy needs spraying too.
Getting her done for Wednesday night which is IPMS Avon night.
Until next time...
Cheers,
Phil.

That is a beautiful build sir.
Not sure what the problem is with the underside, looks great to me.

Re: Airfix GB - 1/48 Seafire F.XVII
Thanks Alan.
Thought the wash was much too dark - and only really saw it after I'd wiped away the excess wash.
Kicking myself as I should have used a lighter wash or left it altogether. Still - I'm sticking with it

Got her finished yesterday morning - here are a couple shots.
I'll put some more in the gallery.
Thanks for all your comments during the build.
Cheers,
Phil.

That's a great finish you have on that. I see what you mean about the undersides. Recent Airfix releases have a tendency to have rather overdone panel lines.
(You might want to check your main gear legs doors though)

What a wonderful model.
Now I have to get one of those. I'm totally blaming you for this purchase.

Another quality build from you Phil.. What I would give to see your collection. Maybe just maybe there will be a model show while we are visiting the UK.
