BIG Scale GB

Re: BIG Scale GB

Postby funkygib on Sat 05 Jan 2013, 8:51 am

Hi, I have been out of the circuit for a while but 2013 will see me back in the fold.
I need to get some models built also and so for the first time I will be partaking with a 1/24 airfix ME109
This will be OOB.

What are the rules re: images do you want build pics or finished pics only.

cheers

Will be a good build to watch and please add a works in progress thread and share some photos of the build as it comes together.

Daz, I'm not the GB host, but this kit is the right scale so I would suggest that you go for it.

Don't forget to do a 'work-in-progress' thread mate.

I'm going to pass on this now for the time being although I might join around April time. Cracking on with the IL-76 vacform so don't want to get to distracted!

If I do enter, it will be with either (all 1/32nd)

Fw-190 - Hasegawa old boxing in a winter scheme

Fi.156 Storch - Hasegawa old boxing, again in winter scheme

F8F Bearcat - Trumpeter. Not sure on scheme, toying with Royal Thai Air Force.

Some good models on offer here. I should be able to get more involved now that the post-New Year admin has been sorted.

I might join in with a 1/32 Revell SBD Dauntless, even though I have a very poor track record making the deadline in GB's... . Some Eduard PE and a Vector Resin engine will go with the kit.

Looking forward to this mate. A bit less rigging than you are used to!

Hi guys. As you know I had planned to do the Tomcat. But as the kit was given to me, it comes with the cockpit already built and painted. See below:

If this is a problem I'll strike it from this GB, and build this instead:

If that's all that's been done, I don't think it's a problem but it's up to you.

Guys, Can I enter with this?

'Tigger Models' 1/32nd vacform Lockheed Hudson by Rainbow 1984, on Flickr

It's a Vacform Lockheed Hudson 1/32nd scale. What you see is where it's at, at the moment, so essentially just cut from the backing plastic. Alot of work ahead of me, alot more than 75% if the 'upto 25% complete' rule is in place?

Cheers, if it's OK i'll get a thread up tonight! :)

Just over two weeks left folks. Let's get a few more finished. We're not going to reach the heights of the Airfix group build but I'm sure we can get a few more done.

Derek I just wanted to say thanks for running this mate.

One of the points of a GB is to get modellers to try something different which was the case for me in this GB.

12 finished builds is a great result when you consider so many previous GB's only having one or two builds.

So, thank you sir. :yahoo:

Thanks Alan, it's very nice of you to say so.

There have been some excellent builds and I'm pleased we got the support. Another few more would have been nice but 4 Spitfires is a good effort out of 12

Let's hope the next GB goes as well as the last two have.
