Airfix GB - 1/72 Mosquito MK VI *Finished*

Post by FTS »

This is another build that I have on the go for the GB. It looks a lot better kit than the Defiant

Now I might be wrong, but I'm picking up a vibe that this build will be finished 'black'?

Three builds, all Airfix, all black. That would make a nice set.

It's actually going to be silver, as it's also being entered in a GB on MMM as a bomber variant rather than the night fighter. I plan on getting another kit in the future for a MKII.

First update. The fit of this kit is actually pretty good. Getting the angles right on the wings and the horizontal stabilizers was a bit fiddly, but so far, i'm quite enjoying this kit

I've got a fair bit done on this today. Bar the gear doors and some other little pieces which are still off to ease painting, it's built, filled and ready for paint.

Looks like a lot of effort has gone into that!

Do I detect sarcasm WZ507? Hardly any effort went into putting it together. A fair bit of filling was required around the engines but when compared to my previous Defiant, this kit was leaps ahead in terms of fit. The undercarriage assembly was a bit fiddly and isn't the best of fits, and one of the 'spray guards?' went walkies, so I had to scratch build a replacement, well try to anyway  .

I've come to the conclusion now that it doesn't matter how many more thin layers of aluminium I paint onto this, it'll always show up the brush streaks  I found brush painting black a lot easier and the brush marks were hardly visible. Anyway it's not that bad, and it'll do.

I don't know what the Klear has done to the paint but it's patchy as hell now. I'll just say it's weathering and leave it at that

It's done. Other pics in the gallery.

No sarcasm - just looked like you'd needed a lot of filler!
