Naval Aviation GB .. 1/48 Royal Navy Phantom +++Finished+++

Post by BFA »

A sneaky bid on eBay Sunday evening resulted in this arriving on my doorstep this morning.

Came with the added bonus of a set of white metal landing gear and some metal wheels / rubber tyres :)
Got to say this looks daunting to me as it's only my 3rd attempt but with work slacking off this month due to the festivities I'm sure I will have time to do it some justice.

Also I'm going to take the plunge and get some photo etch for the seats as there's a hell of a lot of canopy to look through so extra detailed seats should look nice...

Here's the pics....

True to your word you managed to get a kit and have started.

I have to admit there is a lot there already, adding more is a brave move.

Looking forward to watching this come together. :snack:

Cheers folks , gotta love a Phantom :)

Spent a while looking through the " basic " instructions .... conclusion is that it looks more daunting than it actually is. So much so I've started on the cockpit and seats :)

Nice work mate! Etch 'aint quick, but you can't deny that seat looks superb! I've only done one for my Hawk so far, still psyching myself up for the second one!

That is so detailed that once completed this model will only require a ridiculously short pilot and navigator before it'll start flying round your living room!!!!

Incredible work, can't wait to see the completed model.

Same for me. I was stunned when I saw that. Didn't quite realise how detailed it would be. Great stuff

Decals , decals and yet more decals ..... :dizzy: 3 evenings worth to be exact .
I think the decals are getting a bit old in this kit , some are fine but others need soaking for a good 10 mins , the tail decal and nose art are very very thick yet some of the smaller ones almost disintegrate when you try and get them off the backing.

Anyway , top and both sides now done ,m only the bottom ones to go , needs a coat of klear to seal them in as well.
