Is it me, or is this just a pregnant F-35 anyway?

Somehow managed to miss this as well... awesome thread!

Here's one from Oshkosh 2016 - damned thing trundled in to land and then went and sat on the far-side of the airfield, a million miles from the waiting cameras

...and a small selection of the weird and wonderful from Zhukovsky:

In fact I'm enjoying this thread so much that here's a few more, starting with something truly deranged from the (excellent) aviation museum in Krakow:

:dizzy:

And here's a few more of the weird, wacky and wonderful from magical Monino:

And finally... yes, this is an aircraft. Well, sort of. It's a WIG (wing-in-ground)-effect air vehicle, or Ekranoplan, designed for skimming just above the surface of the water. The most (in)famous example of this type of craft was the so-called 'Caspian Sea Monster', and a surviving example of the concept (an A-90 Orlyonok) can be seen sitting on a lake on the outskirts of Moscow. This here is a Bartini-Beriev VVA-14 - such a shame to see it tucked away on a remote corner of the airfield and clearly in a desperately poor state of repair, though I read somewhere that there are still hopes that it might be properly restored:

No love for the French?

How about a swing-wing Mirage?

...or even a VTOL Mirage!

Of course you could just slap another engine in and call it Super.

Last but by no means least, the Rafale prototype.

Absolutely fascinating thread, especially the kit from the former Eastern Bloc. So, although I might well be repeating a few, and mine are not quite as exotic, I thought I'd offer up a few of my own images.
