Gazelles - Let's see yours...
Gazelles - Let's see yours...
The delightful little Aerospatiale Gazelle has been widely exported and licence-built across the world, most notably here in the UK where it served with distinction as probably the only rotary-wing type to have served with all four armed services, Air Force, Army, Navy and Marines, can anyone correct me on this? More importantly, it is disappearing from British service completely in the next few months, so what better way to mark this lovely machine than by posting images of it in action.
Shots can be of any Gazelle, of any nation or air arm, but please only three shots per post, but obviously as many posts as you wish.
Just one to start off from me, a typical AAC example...

Three British
Re: Gazelles - Let's see yours...
First set of three from me..
The first couple were both at Middle Wallop in July 1982 - and, before anyone asks, I believe the 'Aussie' one was merely used by an Australian crew for the duration of the Helimeet competition. Having said that, it was certainly one of the best 'zaps' that I can recall...
And ending with an arty shot somewhere on Salisbury Plain...

I am not a loony... I used to be, but I think I am better now...
Re: Gazelles - Let's see yours...
And here's another three...
Starting with one of the very smart Northolt-based examples at Abingdon BoB Day in September 1981...
Followed by an Army Air Corps machine in Gulf War colours. This was shot in 1992, at what I believe was the Gulf War tribute show. Boscombe Down, was that???
And finishing off with another arty shot from March 1989, complete with descending parachutist...

A lousy photo, but poignant, and possibly the most Gazelle's in one shot?

Hi,
I can pitch in with some exotica,
First up is one of the training airframes at Aborfield.
Second, Captured from the Syrian AF & now on display at Hatzerim, Israel.
Third, Morrocan AF on display at thier first trade show in Marrakech.

What a great thread.
Seeing XW851 brings back many happy memories of the 5 years I spent with 3BAS RM.
Although it is a shame to see it looking as it is now at Shawbury.
Must go through my slides now.
