Has to be the U2 pilot dis-embarking from his fully packaged U2 at RAF Fairford last summer.

It does take an awful lot of people to get a pilot out of a U-2 doesn't it! :dizzy:

Hi chaps,

Thought I'd resurrect this thread, as it was SO good and original. Can't believe it just fizzled out......must be some more rarities out there to share !!

I'll kick it off again with this one. Active SR-71B Blackbird trainer (only 2 made) with NASA at Edwards 1996. In service until the following year

Happy snapping, chaps.

Just come across another rarity for the thread - Sri Lankan Air Force Harbin Y-12. One of only nine apparently. Sorry it's not a great image but I wasn't supposed to be taking photos and only had my 24-105 lens

BTW I'm pleased to say that the NASA Viking was at Oshkosh in 2018  .

Not airworthy and I am sorry for the quality as it is a copy of a slide, this Kingfisher
is currently under restoration to fly with Pioneer Aero in New Zealand. This image
captured at the Whale World Museum in Albany-Western Australia in the 1990s.

And another from my archives, this is one of the Harvards that were converted
to Zero replica's for the movie Tora Tora Tora. These images captured out in the
middle of the Tasman Sea between New Zealand and Australia on Lord Howe
Island sometime in the mid 90s?

They got the canopy pretty close.

Sorry for the quality, copies off slides.

According to Wiki, there are just three of these. Very, very seldom seen:

A Boeing YL-15 Scout seen at Oshkosh 2018.

Only 12 were produced, and this is the one airworthy example that still exists. It has been owned by the same family in Alaska for over 63 years.

Ignoring that they spent the best part of a month here, and were seen by many, I'm going to call the Indian Mirage 2000I/TI my rarest catch (seeing as the Il-78s have been slightly more frequent visitors to these shores than the UK debutant Mirages).
