Feast from FIDAE (Updated Again)

Feast from FIDAE (Updated Again)

Postby TonyO on Fri 06 Apr 2012, 3:46 pm

Greetings, after a long trip away with work I have returned with some images from South America and specifically the FIDAE Airshow at Pudahuel AB near Santiago, Chile. A quieter affair than the show in 2010 which just after the earthquake meant a lot of interesting traffic in and out of the base. Nonetheless there were some interesting aircraft and some lovely visitors bringing in VIPs or arriving for the static.

Many thanks again to my good friend and fellow UKARer Antonio (shocman) whose photos from the show will be well worth looking at when he posts them but also the excellent team from the FACh who hosted us on the Operations Tower to make these raised views possible. Easily the best shooting location for the show!

Here's just a taster, I hope to upload more over the Easter weekend!

Loving the Escudrilla de Fumaca and T-50. Hopefully a sign of things to come across the pond from there  Some great pictures in that lot, a lot of exotic gems.

Apologies for the wait, here's a few of the other aircraft at FIDAE, also please excuse some of the cluttered backgrounds, its not easy taking snaps with clear backgrounds at this event.

Happy Easter

It's actually a KC-135, and the last KC-135Es in service anywhere, at the moment that is. They replaced this KC-137/707 - known as 'Aguila' - which was in service until last year. Now its used as a parts source for the AEW Condor.

Like the two San Antonio Vipers. Wonder what they were doing there?

All superb Tony, some little gems amongst them, T-50 is a really nice looking jet, Chilean F-16 and KC-135, Mexican 737, but probably my pick is the Uruguayan Brasilia, a rare type at the best of times from a rarely seen air arm
