Aero India 2013
Aero India 2013
Hi guys,
Haven't seen a thread from Aero India held at Yelahanka Air Base in Bengaluru, (plenty from cold n dark Northolt) so thought would share a few pics from the heat!
Over all, very disappointing show, huge crowds, very unorganised and most of the IAF gems were static with huge signs in the way - examples below.
The crowd area was not big enough, double fences with armed guards stopping you pushing over the inner fence, and every time you raised your arm to take a photo, about 6 people tried to duck under your arm and push in front of you (and that was on a supposedly trade day...!)
For me though, some of the highlights were the visitors for VIP transportation in & out of the show, along with the new home grown equipment.
Anyway, heres a few of the static examples:

CG-772 Dornier 228 Indian Coast Guard by JaffaPix, on Flickr
ZP-5123 Mil-17 Indian Air Force by JaffaPix, on Flickr
This Jag had a spare engine, bombs, fuel tanks and all possible items around it, not photo friendly!

Examples of the new home team:
KH-2005 Tejas Indian Air Force by JaffaPix, on Flickr
ZP-4602 Light Combat Helicopter Indian Army by JaffaPix, on Flickr
and more examples of the signs...!

so for the flying display.... Split in two parts each day. Photos from 2 different locations on 2 days.
IAF Su30 flew twice each day. They had 1 static and 3 on the far side for flying displays. Not a great demo (the Rafale & F-16 really put it to shame!)

There was 1 hawk static, and 2 parked on the flight line, but I only saw this one departing, didn't see a Hawk display.

so thank goodness these guys turned up. I've been lucky to see them more than once in the last few years,
Russian Knights & RA-76713 IL-76 arriving by JaffaPix, on Flickr
"20" Su-27UB of the Russian Knights by JaffaPix, on Flickr
and this year the 4 ship is using flares again.

so some of the visiting aircraft. There was an Emb145 (but didnt manage to get a photo as departed at sunset) and other wise an IL76 on the day before I was there.
However, 3 different An-32's were caught:
K-2670 An32 Indian Air Force by JaffaPix, on Flickr
K-2734 An-32 Indian Air Force by JaffaPix, on Flickr
We also caught a few different Do228 (again some the HAL local built version)
HM-682 Do228 Indian Air Force by JaffaPix, on Flickr
HM-669 Do228 Indian Air Force by JaffaPix, on Flickr
and a few different HS-748 (some local built!)
H-2179 HS748 Indian Air Force by JaffaPix, on Flickr
H-2372 HS748 Indian Air Force by JaffaPix, on Flickr
but for me - this was the best by far, simply looked immaculate:

I hope some photos of interest there, something different. . . . . .
cheers

Re: Aero India 2013
Not bad at all, I really like the AN-32 shots especially!
Re: Aero India 2013
How good does that last HS-748 look!
Re: Aero India 2013
Great variety under less than ideal conditions by the look of it.
That HS748 looks fantastic, thanks for posting.

That last HS748 looks lovely.
Did Agusta have an involvement in the development of the "Light Combat Helicopter" - some similarities with the A129 Mangusta. Cool scheme.

Re: Aero India 2013
Dave,
this year was the toughest security there has been inside the exhibition area. I had a press pass, which said all areas and was refused entry to the flightline. Group 4 security were responsible along with MOD auxiliary. After going to every show since 1996, I guess it is time to call it a day. As always the show produces good subjects and here are a couple.

and the TMoth didnt fly on the 2 days I was present due to winds or birds....! (too many Eagles flying about...!)

Are the Knights flying Su-35s now? I have to admit that I dont know how to tell the different Flankers apart

no - Su27 still.
Re: Aero India 2013
Very nice collection, as said those signs apart. Loving the An32 and '748s... I just wonder why nations such as India have to prove a point and develop their own combat machines when surely there are more superior ones available off the shelf. That LCA looks even weedier than a Gripen and the LCH looks like an uglified (if possible) YAH-63 ; horrible looking thing.
You caaan't trust the system... Maaan!
Re: Aero India 2013
That Mig-21 looks a bit beefy!! Overall top shots, a shame about the signs but it happens!
