Your Favourite Image from 2014!
Back again for 2014..!
We all know what a talented group of photographers we have posting on our forum, and the quality seems to ever improve year on year. As the year draws to a close, we're asking you to post the ONE favourite aviation image you've taken in 2014. Images can be have captured anywhere, featuring any aviation subject from this year but please explain why you have chosen it as your best of the year. Could be the best photograph you've taken, rarest thing you've seen or one that means the most to you etc etc.
Ideally we'd like to keep this as a photo-only thread, so just one post per each, with the one image embedded and explanation on why you've chosen it please!
Post Away!

Thought I would kick it off with this one of the Polish Air Force Sukhoi Su-22 Fitters at RIAT.
My Favourite Photo of 2014 by p14@btinternet.com, on Flickr
REASON FOR CHOOSING: I chose it because it has to possibly be my favourite act that I have seen at all the airshows I have visited this year, choosing it was not easy but I have decided on this one.

Here's one of my favourites, taken at Farnborough this year it was the first time I'd seen a Harrier in flight

This my favorite from 2014, I really like how it came out, and the way the left wing dips just as he takes off.

This is the Dassault Mirage F1B 118-SW (c/n: 592) of the French Airforce of BA118 Mont-de-Marsan (France).
This Mirage F1 was with the Mirage F1CR 118-CY (c/n: 660) at this airshow for the Carol Hotel tactical display.
I've made this photo at the Meeting L'Air at BA133 Nancy-Ochey.
This was the last time to see the French Mirage F1.
Kind Regards,

Re: Your Favourite Image from 2014!
Some great stuff on here, chaps!
Weather-wise, I've had a pretty rotten season, except for Cosby Victory Show. It was a great little event in September sunlight and R4118's display was sublime. This shot wont win any awards, but I was pleased to catch her before she is sold (hopefully not abroad, but you never know with warbirds...).
Perhaps more importantly, it reminds me that the most enjoyment I've had this year has been from the smallest show I attended!

Re: Your Favourite Image from 2014!
I had a shortlist that caused me a few issues when choosing. I had a technically imperfect full-frame topside of Vera in lovely light, special to me due to there only being a few of us who got those shots. I also had the closeup from the mound at Coningsby. I got a great Vulcan topside at Cosford, from the naughty side (much better light from there!), which was a shot I'd been after for a while.
But, I settled on this one from Duxford, as it's possibly the most British shot I've taken all year. Rolling green countryside and a Spitfire

Sion, Switzerland and the F5 Tiger.
Just love the location, light and the action there

I have quite a few favourites, but this one shades it for no particular reason other than I just like it... The various elements seem to come together well... Fairford July...
And is that the Isle of Arran in the background of that Vulcan shot?

I liked this one
Re: Your Favourite Image from 2014!
Just one show for me this year, Duxford in September - I like the sky in this one.
Lenny I think it's probably steep holm, the Vulcan running in for display at Weston

It was a tough decision but I'll throw this into the mix. Hope a flypast can be counted as an event, if so the Reds over the City after the Invictus Games flypast.

2015 for me is the year of the Lancaster Summer. From the announcement of the tour the big question was always "when are they going to Derwent?" and this is (more or less) the shot that was in my head when I climbed the hill. Maybe I hoped they would be lower: but I'm happy with the shot and very very pleased I was there.

Re: Your Favourite Image from 2014!
For me 2014 has been one of the best airshow seasons ever with so many highlights, the two main ones for me being the Lancaster duo tour and the DH88 Comet returning to the skies. I have chose the DH88 Comet doing a touch and go at The Shuttleworth Race day show in October.

My best photo for 2014 is taken at Gilze-Rijen during the Luchtmachtdagen. The MiG-29AS solo display of the Slovak Air Force.
Enjoy

Re: Your Favourite Image from 2014!
Tough one, I had quite a few favourites from this year taken at Luchtmachtdagen, Northolt Nightshoot, RIAT & CWJ at Brunters but this one stands out the most... I love Russian aircraft over anything else so seeing that classic nose dive from an An-12 was really nice but what got me was that this airframe crashed 13 days after my photo killing all on board

I make no apology for yet another photo of the aviation event of the year. Taken at Southport on a perfect day.

So many great photos already! My contribution is from Sunday's RIAT; from mid-afternoon, when the sun had come out!

This was only my second attempt at panning and, while not perfect, I'm pleased with how it turned out. I had hoped to see the F35, however I was more looking forwards to seeing the Scorpion's UK debut! It is for this reason that I've chosen this as my favourite image from this year. Fingers crossed santa brings me some tickets for RIAT 2015!
