Headcorn's "Flying Legends"

Headcorn's "Flying Legends"

Postby LN Strike Eagle on Sun 12 Jul 2015, 7:28 pm

DanO and I ventured into the Garden of England to give Headcorn's Battle of Britain display a try. Flying programme was heavily delayed, which meant that we were clinging onto a sliver of light down the runway for the Blenheim and the excellent final set piece display, but a highly enjoyable day nonetheless, and what a lovely little airfield. A great atmosphere and a very friendly crowd too - everybody seemed to be chatting to each other and just having a great time.

A great set as always Dan. I like the 'uplighting' effect on the pilots face, reflecting up from the wing.

Flying programme was heavily delayed...
It was always planned to be a late afternoon/early evening show to slot in with the Legends participants.

The timetable I was given last week said a 2pm start and both the commentator and the programme advertised a 2:30pm start.

I guess it was. Lovely grass strip, sun behind all day, and although the crowdline isn't curved, there was an opportunity to "cut the corner" over the parked aircraft, which John Romain in particular put to excellent use.

Super impressed with it for a ticket price of £15 - five Spitfires, four Hurricanes, two Buchons, two Harvards and the Blenheim, and all bar one of them were on the ground at the show too. That's a steal - we'd all be creaming ourselves if OW ever assembled a list like that.

I thought so!

Still working through the shots but here's a handful more:
