My first Old Warden show

Post by 197cup »

It certainly wont be my last, I loved it and so did the misses  . It was great to see the Lysander for the first time and the Comet, it was just a shame the latter never flew. Anyway here's some images from the show

Great set. Number 15 is an angle I haven't seen from others who were there. It looks like it should have flashes coming from the gun ports!

They're great, no doubt about that, but I think you should pay attention to the exif too. They're on a 500mm prime lens on a 1.3x crop sensor, so that's 650mm focal length effectively, and then I dare say they'll have been cropped too. At Old Warden last year, that sort of focal length would have let you know if the pilot had shaved in the morning...

The difference between what we're used to at Old Warden and what we saw on Sunday was like night and day.

They are great pics though.

And that included the lady pilots as well.

As said these are good pics, personally I'm not a great fan of heavily cropped pictures, I like to see the whole aircraft wherever possible, but that's personal choice. For anyone not there be assured the Demon and Polikarpov displays as two examples were a long way off and nothing like the way they used to be. Not everyone has the opportunity to borrow a small mortgage equivalent for camera equipment just to photograph the display at Old Warden. Its an attempt at a fix of something that did not need fixing.

Back to the pics, Storch and Lysander combo works really well for me.

Run the Storch/Lysander through Equalise in Photoshop and you might revise that opinion... Looks suspiciously like a composite image to me.

A shame, as the rest of these are very good indeed.

The signs of "adjustment" are quite visible, aren't they?
