Last October I made the short hop, with a couple of the other staffers, across the channel to Belgium for the International SAR Meet at Koksijde. It was a promising event with some tasty participants announced, from an Aeronavale NH90, Norwegian Sea King to Portuguese Merlin as well as some Mi-8/17s. Alas, very close the event an announcement went out to state that many of the participants had cancelled. A kick in the nether regions indeed, as (for many attendees) all of the star items were included in those cancellations.
Nevertheless the few items that did participate gave a good showing and we were treated to a superb SAR demo from the Belgian NH.90 as well as the Belgian Sea King, but the Belgian Politie (rather ironically) stole the show at the end of the day with a demo of their own... Let's say the separation to the crowdline was, erm, minimal.
