B-1B at Oshkosh TWILIGHT afterburners
Airshow Photography from the UK and around the world
Thu 03 Aug 2017, 1:09 pm
The EAA Airventure at Oshkosh just finished this weekend, however I was only able to attend on the Wednesday. It included a special demo by the B-1B at twilight. Really an incredible sight, although it was challenging to photograph a B-1 at near max speed with such low light. Nevetheless, this was the highlight of the day for me so I am posting it separate, as it will take a while to go through all the other shots from the day. That will be another post, another day.IMG_4699FC

Great capture, though I doubt it would have been anywhere near its max speed.

Why do you say that? B-1B max speed at altitude Mach 1.25 and at sea level Mach 0.92 - 0.96, so if its flying at 600mph, which is about normal for a fast pass, its not far off max speed, which is what the poster has said.

Sadly cut short as someone launched an ultralight as the Bone did its second high speed pass

.95 Mach is what DOD says, if you break it, look for a desk job.

Thanks for the comments guys. It seemed like after the second high peed pass he just went up and out of there. I don't recall seeing an ultralight. What a display though.

It was a fantastic display, the ultra light was one of the paraglider things that was part of the next act, he took off from the ultralight strip and flew over the crowd towards the display line. Shame it resulted in the B1 cutting its display short.
