Breitling Sion airshows 15 to 17-09-2017 (updated)

Postby SEMAE on Wed 20 Sep 2017, 11:22 pm

Hi

My first visit to the Sion airshow which I attended all three days..

Friday was spent outside the airfield focusing on landings. Saturday I was opposite the crowd line outside for the second time. Sunday I was inside.

The flying of the aircraft if viewing from inside the airfield was quite high and far way on all three days. High probably due to he mountains. There is a strip of relatively open land beyond the main road and warehouses outside that the aircraft were displaying over much of the time as well as some open land near one end of the airfield. The rest of the area is urban.

The weather was good on all three days and only started to close in toward the end on Sunday.

More pics to follows

I will most likely go back again should they have another show.

Nice shots Martin - I can feel the noise! Any of our Catalina? We displayed at 9:20 on Saturday morning, probably the earliest we have ever displayed! 5 o'clock start to get down from the mountains at Crans Montana ready for start-up. It was interesting displaying in that space - no re-heat to crank us round the corners!

I think the Catalina flew two days but we were late arriving one day just as it was about to finish a display.

On another day, or perhaps the same day, the only shot I managed to get was in the overhead so a type of picture that one could got anywhere but I will post the image anyway.

I think you might have a double post of the second set. Regardless, I really like some of those. First Hornet shot is my favourite.
