New Year at Newquay:

Postby PeteM on Sun 03 Mar 2019, 9:24 am

Here is a selection from Newquay taken since the 1st Jan 2019.
Mostly taken on the days I volunteer at CAHC, some are a bit rushed as I have to jump in the car and negotiate padlocked gates if I hear anything on my scanner.
Nothing out of the ordinary, no overseas visitors this year as far as I'm aware.
I've included the King Air - G-DAYP which will become ZZ505.

Nice collection, 146 looks a little dramatic

Didn't realise the ex Shawbury 109s were operating down there along with Griffins and Squirrels, all still with military serials I see.

Thanks for taking the time to comment.

I sometimes take my lunch break by the fence at Cobham and it's a bit confusing. Two of the 3 (at last count) Griffins are now in Civil reg; all the Squirrels are still military reg; the two 109s are rarely seen outside and I've heard a rumour that the AW139 (ZR283) is going for good.

Just to amend my comment at the head of the page, the first overseas visitor this year spent the night at Newquay on Monday.
Parked on 'South Pan' outside the old 404 'Nimrod Hangar' ... a reminder of the good old days when visiting Maritime Patrol aircraft were a regular sight.

Wonderful images, great to see some Mil assets at 'Good old Moggie'
I had a sign on the back of my office door during my tour there, - it read 'Forget the aircraft, get on the beach...'
