My Joint Warrior 082.

Post by ranger703 »

Hi all,

Back from another visit to Cape Wrath, this time I was acting as a Liaison Officer for French,US,German and Dutch FAC's in addition to my normal controlling duties. The air was limited at Cape Wrath, the highlight being the 1st ever HE, LGB drop in the UK and also the 1st ever HE drop from a Typhoon. I got involved in a few firsts myself, including convoy interception with a Nimrod and carrying out close quarter drills with the USMC,firing off 180live rounds with the M4 rifle! Yes I missed the Greeks(always the return visit though) but the craic and job variety made up for that. I apologise in advance for the non-aircraft images in the thread but they do kinda go as they tell the story of my 11 days up north.

Love the first sunset Lynx    'Playing' around with the M4 sounds fun, did it have an ACOG or Aimpoint sight attached?

Saw them plenty,at least 4 operating off the FN Mistral, however the day they came to do a Casevac I was elsewhere!!!

Lynx shots are at sunrise! The M4 had the ACOG fitted which was rather awkward on a 25m-5m range! It certainly slowed you down though which was the desired effect during drill.

Great shots Andy, especially the first Lynx/sunrise shot, having spent time with FAC's this week I fully appreciate how hard/exciting/fun/crap your job can be.
