Cottesmore 211008

Post by CH2 »

Hello

Decided to pop over to my local this afternoon. The weather was perfect, so I was surprised I saw anything fly at all! I mean with our Carrier Air Wing deployed and all.
Not at all happy with the results but it was nice to see some jets in the sun for once.

Some very nice shots there, and it is nice to see Harriers appearing in the photo's section again!
Thanks for sharing them!

Thanks for the feedback. It’s the 1 Squadron marked Harrier on approach that I was disappointed with, too much grain.

I got there at around 16.00, and was caught out by a 29 Squadron Typhoon.

As for the two Harriers that were around it wasn’t the usual flurry of STOVL work, they all seemed to be flying radar approaches.

IMHO Cotts is a great place to sit, chill and watch Jets close up, (when the winds from the west) and when they are doing their STOVL stuff probably more entertaining than watching Typhoons bounce round the circuit at CBY (although when the winds from the east CBY is the winner from a photography point of view). But it does seem very quite at times! DB's Thunder and Lighnings has all the info.
Cheers,

Chris

Nice set there. I'm going along to Cottesmore for the day next week, it was a choice between guaranteed Tiffie action at Coningsby and not-so-guaranteed Harrier action at Cottesmore.

Good set - just a shame about the lights obscuring the gear in the second shot.
