Mildenhall 21st October

Post by rjlaker »

Hello all,

Went to Mildenhall again yesterday. It was fairly busy, and the weather was great, although a little windy. There were a few Ukarians there, I'm sure and it was good to meet Viking 9 yesterday. Here are the shots:

A nice early visitor as the sun was rising:

Had to be quick to get out the car and catch these two as they came round from Lakenheath:

I wouldn't normally post a shot of the residents, but I kinda liked this one:

Just after lunch, this visitor turned up. Shame it didn't come nearer, and this was the best shot I could get:

Two Dover C-17s together:

The sun going down made for some nice lighting:

I'd hoped to catch the WB-57, but it wasn't to be. It doesn't look like I'll be able to see it this time round!

Cheers for looking
Comments always welcome
Rob

Some of the best shots I’ve seen from Mildenhall for sometime
Wish I hadn’t had that lay-in now!!

I was there for a couple of hours from 10ish, in the silver mini.

Light on the first C17 is lovely, like that KC-135 banking and the last two Herc shots.

The based tanker and the second Herc shot are the tops

Great stuff - banking KC looks superb. Do you by any chance have a close up of the nose art on the AWACS?

regards

First time I've seen noseart on an E-3 - looking very nice indeed.

Great selection from a superb day

Cheers for your comments!

Suffolk blue - I think you were parked behind me. I was in the Clio next to the trailer. If I'd have known it was a fellow Ukarian I would have said hello!

Awacsfan - I didn't get a close up shot of the nose I'm afraid, but it was unusual to see noseart on an AWACS!

It was a good day for photography, not just of the aircraft. I took a shot of a local Kestrel whilst waiting for a departure: http://forums.airshows.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=2477

Cheers

Wonderful shots!  I'm glad you posted the resident as well because it's very nice and different from the usual tankershots.
