RAF Kinloss families day..

RAF Kinloss families day..

Postby Macc on Sun 22 Aug 2010, 12:51 pm

I also took the opportunity to go to Kinloss. It started out magnificently with clear blue skies, which was hampered by high winds and a small flying program. A VC-10 in static was superb, but it was the opportunity to catch some more MR.2 shots that was the opportunity not to be missed. I ended up coming back with more shots than I thought I would have!

Was nice to see so many familiar faces and have a quick chat with a lot of them, it was a very relaxed day!

No photos of the Pitts, however, especially with the conditions, it was a superb display. Amazing to watch!

I have to say No.10 is absolutely superb, it stands out a mile. Superbly seen, really well captured and excellently edited. Very tasteful indeed.

The rest are nice as well!

I'm genuinely blown away by what you're posting at the moment, Chris. It's absolutely wonderful stuff on a consistent basis. You're on fire this summer!

3, 8, 10 and 11 are beautiful, beautiful photographs and strong contenders for another slot in POTW.

Keep it up mate.

Some lovely shots there Macc, thanks for posting. As said above, some of the compositions are really excellent.

Having been based at Kinloss during my brief career in RAF I'm very fond of the Nimrod, so it's good to see her again, although i'm somwhat saddened to think what will happen to her in the none too distant future.

I friend of mine works at Boscombe where they scrapped one of the old girls not long after they were retired. Apparently she 'screamed' when the scrapman took a claw cutter to her

Lovely set of photos, come fantastic compositions on the 'close ups'

Just a point of curiosity - what's the Shorts 360 in the beackground up there for? Surely not a replacement MPA?

So how many non airworthy Nimrod MR.2s are left at Kinloss now, hopefully all waiting for a nice home (but most likely the coming of the scrapman)
