I was fortunate enough to catch Waddingtons finest in the late afternoon sun yesterday. Here are a few from multiple approaches by both the Nimrod and Sentry.

Catch these old ladies while you can.









ZH101 now sports the low vis markings that the E-3D fleet are gradually receiving.

Blimey, I bet ATC were chuffed with that hot air balloon. Very nice shots.

Cheers for the comments. The hot air balloon was pretty much directly over Lincoln. Both the tower and the jets were aware of it, however, perspective made it look close to the jets at the start of their approaches at times.

Very nice captures in great light . Nothing wrong with side ons (some people like to look at the plane and the detail on the aircraft), people need to drop that "stigma" in the skip

Excellent light on those. Nimrod still my favourite aircraft I've photographed in sun setting conditions.

I often see that balloon as i travel home south along the A15. He once came down in a field between waddo and cranwell. Are there any restrictions on balloons travelling near airbases ie if they start directing over a base, would they have to ditch it before hand or can it just go over it and if so do they have some way of contacting ATC?

Hi Dinger, wonderful shots!!!
I like specially the Nimrod images, this venerable aircraft is very interesting for me, I saw just one time in Chile during FIDAE, I remember the very impressive demo flight.
Thanks for share the images. You are very afortunate to go to an airport after the work, for me that is almost impossible.
