Sunset Swede 2011

Post by RickIngham »

I have never known the weather to be as extreme as it was on Thursday. It was a great opportunity to test my new lens...
Every year the RAF host the Swedish Air Force to teach them how to prepare an unprepared strip ready for a C-130. Start of the week they used Pembrey before finally visiting the plain...

Nice set mate and oh so lucky with that light.....fantastic!

What's the new lens? Seems a bit shaper and better contrast than the 100-400?

Blown away with the comments chaps  The sun was in and out of the jet black clouds so it was a bit of a challenge!
Steve - the Canon 100 - 400 was just borrowed from a friend. My main lens was a Tamron 55 - 200 I bagged from Ebay for a tenner! I now have a 300mm F4 IS - really wasn't sure about parting with all that money but 100% glad I did now...Can't wait to see what I can get with the Chinooks in the dust now. Catch up soon!

Hi,
I don’t usually comment on photos as I like to be critical as well as complimentary and some people don’t like that. But I’ve got to pass comment on these for the opposite reason. That’s a really good post, a well covered event, no weak photos to spoil the set and some really strong, really well done photos to boot.
Well done, and thanks for sharing them with us.

Really like 11 and 20! I have to say i don't really know much about the Plain, is it the same set up as Stanta with public roads running through it? Really looking forward to your next set of Chinooks as well

Thats a fine set Rick, just my kind of slow shutter prop blur works a treat on them, but 18 and 20 steal the show by a wide margin, good work!
