Small selection from today at Lakenheath. But for a very busy 20-30 minute period where several aircraft were arriving, departing and overshooting, it was an otherwise slow day. Thanks to Gary (tomcatforever) for his assistance with frequencies and info etc.
On the plus side, it was nice to get some shots of a MiG killer...

Hi Dan,
Very nice to see the close up of '156. I keep wondering if they're going through another 'phase' and remove all the stars, after seeing '010 the other week. Did you see any of the other airframes that should be marked?

Excellent set, well lit and pin sharp!

Captain Scarlet is indestructable, you are not. Remember this, do not try to imitate him.

No others were seen - only a handful of jets up yesterday. I've got 6x 493 FS jets photographed, and there were just five up from the other two squadrons. It's that time again when they go quiet before the new financial year.
There were two C-17s and an Atlas 747 on the ground too. One of the C-17s left mid-afternoon. Are any of the based units deployed, or due to be?
I may try again next week, or perhaps give Brize a shot instead to hopefully catch a VC-10 before they're gone.

Re: RAF Lakenheath
Hi again Dan,
Thanks for that, none of the other airframes in your pics should be marked so we'll have to wait and see. Only deployment I know of was a small batch of 492nd FS that went early on the Sunday morning of the recent Duxford weekend - don't know where. Not aware of any due but not really in the loop I'm afraid. There does seem to be a bit of a run on C-17s at both bases this week - but again, don't know why but as you suggest, it is usually connected with deployments. I know that some of the 100th deployed quietly last week, which is why there isn't many based tankers at Mildenhall at the moment.

I think I've only posted pics of three jets. I checked the serials in my other shots and none of the other marked jets were flying anyway.

Re: RAF Lakenheath
A few more shots from today. I feared drawing a blank after 90 minutes of nothing happening, but at about 10:30 the base kicked into life and it was a steady stream from then onwards.
Nice to meet Nigel and Craig this evening too.
