Exercise NAF El Centro

Exercise NAF El Centro

Postby Hellfire on Wed 07 Nov 2012, 8:21 am

Was fortunate enough to get some better weather for 6 weeks and headed out to NAFEC with the RAF Chinook det. We were joined by Ex Merlin Vortex and Lynx Vortex along the way also, with the USMC adding to the ever decreasing pan space. Some of the shots are from Imperial Airport where the 47sqn det were working as well as the USN MH-60S and CH-53D that dropped in.

Surely there's a POTW in that lot! Great stuff, I love the shot of BN with the F/A-18's in the background.

Green with envy looking at this little lot - and that blue stuff behind the aircraft

Hmmm, the first foreign deployment of a Chinook HC4...another news story ignored by the MoD!

Interesting set!
Do you want the Aladeen news or the Aladeen news?

Interesting set, do post some more! Your CH-53D's are CH-53E's by the way.

Cheers guys. Koen thanks for pointing that out. I had trouble identifying their squadron at first. The only photos I could find of 34 was when it was operated by HMH-363 "Lucky Red Lions" out of Hawaii when it was a D.
A few more

Sadly missed the chance to go do some desert landings with the Chinooks. Would've been nice as the Sqn Ldr said I could get out and watch down at Holtville too. Had a few V-22's doing DL's there that I tried to get down to see but missed the turn off and they bugged out by the time I got there.
