WTD 61 - Manching Airbase 23.01.2012

Post by MigF4 »

Hi gents,

Wednesday I have been to Manching again, to visit some friends within the WTD 61.
And my main focus was to capture the mighty Phantom in snowy conditions, and we were succesfull - snow and blue a sky was what we found in Manching that day.

It was once again a very enjoyable day, and even a chilly day spent on the flightline and near the Runway in Manching with all aircrews.

I have never been in Manching with snow and it was a great atmosphere, to see the base covered with so much snow. Because u never know when you will ever see so much snow again there.
.....but we got sun and plenty of mighty Phantom action - what do u need more?!
Luckily the weather was on our side again, and we had awesome conditions during the day. A big "Thank You" must go to everyone involved in Manching that worked hard to make this shooting happen. Everyone did an extraordinary job on that day.....

All the hard work has paid off, and the results are these great images.
Especially Manching is a great place with so many different a/c flying around there...so we could see for example German Navy P-3 , testbeds like F-4 , Eurofighter and Bell UH-1D and many, many other unique a/c and helicopter....and with a nice photo-spot on the Tower up in 300ft, we could get impressive fly-by shots.
So my decision was good...driving down up to Manching in the morning and returning home afterwards, so we spent 8 hrs driving back and for and almost 1200 km - but it was more as worth, and as result we could shoot plenty of mighty Phantoms under a blue sky!

Ok enough of my blabla, and the impressions will tell the rest of the story, as always......
More will follow.......as a day later I was in Wittmund:-).

As always c & c are more as welcome, and thanks for watching

Cheers,
Mick

Great sets, but I have to say I prefer the Typhoons and the Huey to the Phantom... :hide:
