Mi-8/17 against forest fires - July 2012 /picture heavy/

Some heli action from last summer.

In the beginning of July 2012 a serious forest fire broke out in Vitosha mountain just few kilometers from the city of Sofia. Bulgarian Air Force send two Mi-17 with Bambi Bucket's immediately. In the next two days the fire has grown and their efforts were insufficient. On the third day a Heli Air's Mi-8 joined the action.

Amazing and very interesting series of shots.....thanks for posting!

Bet the holiday makers aroudn the lake/reservoir sitting under their sunshades enjoyed the show!

A superb set of images, great to see something so different ... real aircraft in action .... hope the fires have been extinguished ....
