Hi All;
Earlier this year I got to spend a couple of weeks in Spain visiting a variety of Spanish Airforce bases and units, of which follows a variety of photo's taken during this time.
The Highlights for myself was the visit to Badajoz for the F-5's, as well as to see the last of the remaining Mirage F-1's.
Thanks for looking at what is a lenghty post, and any comments discussion always welcome etc...

Nice to see 12-50 still carrying the tail art from Waddo a few years back. Fantastic all round

Great selection. I never realised they still operated Mirage F.1's and Talons though, learn something new every day.

The Mirage F1s are retired this year along with the CASA 212s and F27Ms. The F-5s (not Talons) have survived the chop for now, but still remain incredibly rare in Northern Europe, I saw one at KB a few years ago.
Where have they been hiding that 25 years tiger F-18 for the last three years?
Fabulous selection and great shots Super Puma and Airbus are very smart.

As capercaillie correctly say's the F1's are now finished as of the end of June this year, and indeed they had only just received confirmation of their finishing date the week we were there so I was happy to see them one last time.
As for the Casa 212's, as far as I understand there were no plans for them to finish at the time of visiting (May) as no suitable replacement had been found for their role at the parachute school at Alcantarilla where they were operating around 10 of them. Unless something changed and I missed it that is?

Fantastic photos and great variety.
I have read somewhere (possibly Air Forces Monthly?) that they are still flying the odd flight with the F.1s as they are keeping them airworthy with the intention to sell them on.
