Hellenic Air Force Base Tour 01-05.09.08

Post by Crossbow »

Hello

From 01-05 September Peter and me spent one week in Greece.
Day 1 we started at Kalamata south of the Peloponnes near the
Messini-Beach.Once having permission everything on Base was shown!
The Day ended with exactly 100 Aircraft in total. From which 93 were
pictured. What a start for the week! Weather fantastic too. Every Day
some 35 Degrees+.Away from the usual dark Clouds and winds here
in Germany.....for me no problem. Some like it hot.!!I also have to say
"Thank you" to the Embassy both in Germany and Greece. And of course
MOD-General Stuff HAF+all the Commanders and their Pilots given us
all the Support we wanted.(Sorry for using the only large Steppladder on Base)

Let the Pictures speak: 28 Buckeyes in a Row!!!
Image
Stored T-37s in a long line up!

Nice taxing stuff at the end of the Runway:

Early morning landing T-2E, (E.g.The T-6 Texan starting flying 0700 hrs in the morning)

More to come if you like (+Araxos,Andravida and Agrinio)
Take it easy!

Regards

Total Buckeyes seen that day 34......

Lovely set of shots, there's something very appealing about a camo Buckeye.

Hello

Four more I would like to add.At the Gate T-37 " Ikarus"
in Special colours from its unit (I think disbanded in 2002)

Image

Visiting Dromaders or better known as PZL-18s

Image

Suddenly 3 M2000EG from 331Mira Tanagra flew a 1500 Feet High Base Attack
along the Rnwy shortly before we left the Airfield!...
Shot one...the Rest was to fast for me(And no warning they were coming)

Image

Very last one from that fantastic Base:2 Buckeyes Ready to go.......

Image

All the Best
