Dutch Delight: RAF Shawbury 13/04/15

A very nice visitor into RAF Shawbury this morning... a RNLAF Lockheed C-130H Hercules G-781! The Hercules was to transport a football team over here for a tournament at RAF Cosford! :)

Nice shots, and a damn good catch. I heard a legacy-sounding Herk fly over my workplace at Atcham today and did wonder... Its got to be one of the more exotic visitors to Shawbury for a while?

Great shots - I wish I too had a camera that could see a month in to the future :-)

Cheers Tommy. It's the most exotic since we had the CV-22B Osprey last year for 60(R) Sqn Graduation :)

RAF Cosford operates with Crash Cat 1A on a daily basis, whereas a C-130 with passengers would require Crash Cat 3 or 4. Therefore it was probably easier for the aircraft to fly into RAF Shawbury, rather than needing to transport extra fire appliances into RAF Cosford. (I don't know the real reason, but that's what I would assume).

Lovely shots by the way Joe, the first particularly is a beauty! And I believe the RNLAF team beat the RAF by a considerable margin..!

Thanks makes sense, and also why they can fly in for the Airshow, beefed up rescue services.

The Herc (according to reports?) made another appearance this morning at Shawbury to transport the victorious footy team back to Holland, anyone got any photos?
