2015 CF-18 Demo jet. More shots added with the Snowbirds

Postby Fumbles on Sun 19 Apr 2015, 2:39 am

Typing this from a laptop at a hotel in Sunny Comox B.C. Today and tomorow I get to watch the spring training of the Snowbirds and the 2015 CF-18 demo practice for the season. Am I a happy person today? Damn right I am... I came away with shots like this. Just the one for now till I get home. Editing on the laptop does not work well with me.... I'll be home Sunday to work on some more pictures to share.

Hope you all enjoy this one shot sneak peak.

Many many thanks for the comments everyone... This years demo of the CF-18 flown by Captain Denis "Cheech" Beaulieu has to be one of the most aggressive demos I have seen for a long time.. Not only does the CF-18 paintwork look good but the demo is almost non-stop action as well.

Sadly the demo didn't fly again on Sunday so I only had one chance to get photos of the Hornet... Later in the afternoon for the second rehearsal on Saturday, the crew flew with the two seater. Not sure why... but it was neat to see a 'normal' CF-18 doing the same routine.

Some of the shots are dark and some are light... CFB Comox at this time of year can be a little tricky with light as the sun is almost straight looking down, even harder this time around since both the Snowbirds and the CF-18 demos were both practised over the base. Usually morning is over the base and then afternoon is over the water.

Any ways just a few more shots... Some of the twin stick afternoon display and some of the Snowbirds.

Again thanks for the comments and the looks...

Criticism good or bad always welcome.

Would be pretty nice to have them organise this to be in formation with the newly painted Typhoon somewhere.

Be a bit difficult as the Canadian F-18 has no UK dates and the RAF Typhoon has no Canadian dates

Great shot.

It looks so much better in your image than in the 'official' photos.

The Bug looks great, just a small note though, you're pictures seem to be a tad underexposed. That's easy enough to fix in post processing, but I guess it's not that easy if you're working on a laptop. Great set though!

Many thanks for the comments again... Agg. Thanks for the honest comment. I'll try and work with some of the shots when I get home late next week. I'm on my way to the UK now.
