Hellenic Air Force St. Patrons Days 2014 (Image Heavy)

Back in November 2014, I travelled across to Greece with a couple of mates for a long drive around the country taking in many of the bases who kindly open up their doors.

A bit late in posting these I know, but hopefully still of interest.

Apologies for the amount, but hope you made it through to this point.

I would highly recommend this to anyone who is tinkering with the idea of going over. You get to see a hell of a lot across the various bases (great for the numbers guys), of which we missed out a couple on route (Araxos and Nea Anchialos). If you plan it right/get lucky, the Demo teams display at some of the bases at various points across the 4 days too (F-16, T-6A and Apache).

You still have to be very careful as the HAF are very twitchy, even when you are invited onto their establishments and follow instructions.

Thanks for looking

Some really splendid variety posted. Loved looking at all of these.

The Greeks sure had (and do have) a wonderfully diverse range of airframes. I'm a big fan of those T-2s - especially shot 26.

Great post , the rain and the reflections make a change ,but I must say the RF5 is one of the more garish colour schemes I have ever seen

I've always wondered if these Greek open days are worth it but looking at these I think the answer is pretty clear! Fabulous stuff, as said the 2000 special is a bit nice. And Buckeyes, well 'nuff said..!

I'd say that the Hellenic Air Force have arguably the best and most varied inventory in Europe. Lovely shots to compliment the aircraft!

Thanks for the comments all.

As I mentioned, I'd highly recommend the open days to anyone. Not only do you get to see lots of aircraft, every base has a huge selection of merchandise on sale for the collectors out there.

Apaches aside (was a bonus to see them), the wide range of types on show doesn't even include their Navy/Army. We briefly passed Megara on our way back towards Elefsis, and there was a large amount of Chinook's, NH-90's and UH-1's out on the ramps. Mightily impressive inventory the Greeks possess considering their financial struggles.
