RAF Valley... Farewell 208...

RAF Valley... Farewell 208...

Postby PeterR on Mon 25 Apr 2016, 11:25 am

Took a trip to RAF Valley earlier this month, taking the opportunity to photograph Hawk T1s operating at the base for the final time. Sadly neither of the 208 Squadron special tails flew, and the weather was pretty miserable all day. Nevertheless, here's a record shots from the day...

Tidy set, Valley looks fairly photo-friendly.

It is a very photo friendly base, but be aware that currently re-surfacing works are taking place, and in a few months all flying will be stopped/ transferred to other RAF bases (August/ September was the timeframe last mentioned) while the crossover point of both runways 13/31 & 19/01 will be taking place.

Also bare in mind the fence line that runs along the seaward side of the 13/31 runway, as the sand has in sections covered the fence.
