What no Axalp!! Let's go anyway....

October should have been the annual Axalp live firing demonstration, but due to the recent F-18 & Puma incidents and the loss of the flying crew, it was inevitable the event could and was duly cancelled. So what to do when the main event is cancelled, flights are booked and hire cars paid for, well go of course. Our trusty band of 13 LFA7 photographers dwindled to 8 what with last minute drop outs , but off we set for 4 days of base visits, glacial gorges and mountain summits....

Here is the current haul from Meiringen over the period (still processing so will add to, when I get time to remember)...

Then we were treated to a sight no-one wanted to see, unrequired Axalp supplies being returned from the firing range :sorry:

Still it was something to tog...

Then another sorry sight....

But thankfully it was only a training mock up left over from the 75th Anniversary Airshow..

We then disappeared to Brienz for the evenings supplies (microwave meal and beer), before we returned for the weekly night flying, unfortunately there was only one departure in fading light - I wished I owned an f2.8

so then I relieved my boredom with a shot of the rising Alpine moon before RTB at 21:00

Payerne and Emmen to follow.....

Thanks for looking and C & C welcome as always....

Cheers, Kelvin

You should look into the 200mm f/2.8 II L (assuming you are a Canon man), no IS but a great cheap lens. Seen them from £400 second hand, it's most likely my next lens too, tbh! Great photos, love number 5!

11-16 f/2.8 | 24-105 IS L | 70-300 IS USM | 50 f/1.4 | 100 f/2.8 | 400 f/5.6

I think the 200mm would be too limiting for most of where I shoot, plus once I add a x1.4 mk ii extender I'm pretty much back at 300mm f4, where I am now. It'll be either the 100-400mm mk ii or 300mm 2.8 mk i, once I can convince my wife it's a good idea.......
