Nellis AFB, Green Flag 17-06

Post by Wes_Howes »

Well, I am a lucky boy. My wife is very understanding of the child she has married and she agreed to let me spend a short time at Nellis after our stay in Vegas. We drove up to the speedway and spent about 90mins by the side of the road. Very happy with the movements I saw in the short time we were there, even if photography was a bit more challenging due to the heat haze.

Nice - the Greyhound is an unusual catch for Nellis..

I've seen F22's coming back with weapons bay doors open too - must be a regular fault...

Haha, sounds a lot like my trip to Las Vegas back in April, I also managed to talk the wife into going out to Nellis to have a look. We spent about an hour - an hour and a half, next to the Las Vegas Speedway, but sadly there was nothing going on. It has to be said though, that there were no exercises going on at the time, and it was a Saturday. There were quite a few aircraft visible on the ground though, from the speedway I could see no less than six B-1Bs, a couple of E-3s, four CV-22s, and a whole bunch of F-16s. Looking at these, and other pictures taken at Nellis, I think I'll have to go back - maybe on a guy trip, with just aircraft in mind ;)

Thanks for the comments chaps

Leon, I saw the Greyhound go overhead at about 10,000ft and thought to myself, cool, I've seen a Greyhound  about 20mins later it appeared on approach :yahoo: It did land on 21L so was a bit further away but I don't care!

Agg, do it! Nothing more I can say
