Red Flag 17-4

Red Flag 17-4

Postby D90Man on Mon 27 Nov 2017, 6:19 pm

A little later than planned....

I was fortunate enough to be able to get to Nellis AFB again this August during Red Flag 17-4.

Over the 3 days, I experienced cold mornings, intense heat and severe thunderstorms (severe enough to close McCarran for an hour!!).

Foreign participants were the Republic of Singapore AF F-15SG's (admittedly only from Mountain Home) and the Royal Saudi Air Force EF2000 Eurofighter Typhoons.

Also present were USMC F/A-18A++'s and C's from VMFA 314 Black Knights, along with F-16's from Ohio ANG.

There were Luke AFB F-35's participating with the Weapons School as well.

Here is a small selection - many more at my website - link below in my signature.

PS There was a surprise visitor on the 22nd....

Hope you like them

Leon

Nice! You did better then me lol... I was only in town for 4 days, one of which I was at Coyote... The day AF1 came in. Ah well you can't win them all. Two of the three other days, I was nearly swept away from the rains and wind. 17-4 will certainly be a Red Flag to remember that is for sure. Good looking pictures, I would have loved to get those special Eagles in the sun.

Thanks Rod - was beginning to wonder if anyone would comment.

They closed 21R for a while on the second day, just before the 747 arrived - it meant all the traffic was breaking left for 21L, including the returning RSiAF F15SG's

Maybe catch you next time I'm there...
