The Groupe de Chasse 1/2 "Cigognes" (Storks) celebrated the 100th anniversary of the loss of the most famous WW1 French ace with 54 confirmed kills, Capitaine Georges Guynemer, at their home Base Aérienne 116 Luxeuil - Saint Sauveur with a small event on 6 October 2017. Beside the based Mirage 2000-5F with a QRA Demo also the Patrouille de France, Extra 330SC, the Rafale Solo Demo, replicas of aircraft from the WW1 were displayed. After a foggy morning the weather was quite good in the afternoon and early evening (Event starts at 1400 local time). Unfortunately there were backlight conditions in the afternoon, nevertheless it was possible to take some nice shots. The highlight was the special coloured Mirage 2000-5F.
In 1917, Guynemer became Captain and Commander of the Stork Squadron, Escadrille N.3. The current GC 01.002 ‘Cigognes’ has taken over the traditions and is currently flying with the Mirage 2000-5F. GC 01.002 ‘Cigognes’ consists of three SPA´s: SPA 3 Cigogne de Guynemer, SPA 26 Cigogne de Saint Galmier and SPA 103 Cigogne de Fonck (all three with a stork as an emblem).

Number 12 is just something else actually. A really beautiful shot and composition
